Statistics on Viagra, Levitra and CialisThe problem of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men is not a tribute to modern life style or bad ecology at nowadays. It has always existed, but it has always been a kind of taboo to speak about it in public. The absence of sufficient information about the causes of this health disorder and lack of official treatment made men with ED search for help in alternative medicine, herbs etc. Actually this problem and the solving of it was a concern of patients themselves. The situation has greatly changed after the development of treatment for ED condition by official medicine. After presenting Viagra in year 1998, the problem of ED received the attention of scientists, doctors and new era for men with ED began. As it appeared to be, the Erectile Dysfunction is very widely spread condition: only in the USA more than 20 million of men suffer from it; the number of ED sufferers in whole world is approximately 140 million. Viagra, being the pioneer as the oral pill for treating the ED, has now two competitors: Levitra and Cialis, appeared in year 2003. Interesting statistics data concerning Erectile Dysfunction, its treatments and attitude of people to it is given in the web survey, prepared by MedicineNet.com, online publisher of medical information. According to the results of this survey, taking place in February - March of year 2005, 89% of patients use oral medicines to treat the Erectile Dysfunction. The other possible treatment options, like injections, vacuum devices and alternative medicine, have equal weight and are used by about 19-20% of people, suffering from ED. It is natural that oral pills, like Viagra, are much more popular among people - it is easier to take a pill of Viagra than to use a vacuum pump to restore the sexual performance. Due to the longer period of presence on the market, Viagra is the most popular among the pills to treat the ED condition, being used by 47% of participants of the online survey. Then there go Levitra with 25% and Cialis with 17%. It should be noted here that this ratio will obviously change in future with the active promoting of Viagra’s competitors; for example, Cialis is frequently mentioned as the “weekend pill”, what means that it acts for about 36 hours, while Viagra acts only for 4 hours. The other results of the said survey show the significant role of the Internet in questions, concerning ED. It is the source to get the information about ED itself, possible treatment and even place, where people can order the pills. ED medications and ED treatment options are the most requested information in the Internet, as it was informed by 30% and 27% of respondents respectively. Finally online pharmacy is the second place after regular pharmacies where people get the prescriptions for Viagra, Cialis or Levitra. Here it will be useful to remind that all said pills need the official prescriptions, so it is not recommended to buy it online without consulting the doctor or on the unreliable or shady web sites.
