Renova: a Fairy Tale Comes True

I believe, everyone remembers a fairy tale about the sleeping beauty. The story has a happy ending, since a prince kisses a girl. Though, would it be the same if a young lady had acne? Would the prince kiss her anyway?

We can only make suggestions, since fairy tales depict beautiful people; those with acne live in the real world. Only they know how it feels.

However, acne is a difficulty, which can be resolved, making all the people with the problem skin one step closer to the beauty of the princes and princesses.

One of the ways to improve the state of the wrinkled, spotty, rough and damaged by acne skin is Renova – a tretinoin cream, used for facial areas only. Other brand names containing the same active ingredient are Retin-A and Avita. The first one is available in the forms of liquid, cream or gel, while Avita comes only as a gel.

The main component of the above mentioned medications – tretinoin – is a topical form of vitamin A, which helps the skin renew itself more quickly, reduces pimple and blackhead formation, and improves the texture of the skin. It takes, though, from several weeks to several months to see the results; therefore, be patient!

Renova should be applied to the clean and dry skin (wait about 30 minutes after washing your face) once daily at the bedtime. A small amount of cream can cover the whole face (excluding eyes, ears, nostrils, mouth, and open wounds); Retin-A and Avita are applied only to the areas with acne. Be sure not to wash your face at least 1 hour after applying the medication. Hands, on the contrary, must be thoroughly cleaned before and after the procedure.

Side effects of Renova and the other medications of the kind are mild if the skin is not very sensitive. They include allergic reactions, temporary darkening, burning, stinging, tingling, itching, redness, and dryness of the skin. If a patient experiences it all, he/she may need a lower dose or less frequent applications. An overdose is not likely to occur.

Everyone, who is going to be treated with Renova, Retin-A and Avita, must stick to these rules: - avoid exposure to sunlight and artificial UV rays not to get sunburned; - use a sunscreen and wear protective clothing as part of a comprehensive skin care and sunlight avoidance program; - do not use medications on sunburned, wind-burned, dry, chapped, wounded or irritated skin, and on areas of eczema; - avoid products, which increase skin sensitivity and cause irritation: soaps, cleansers, shampoos, or cosmetics with a strong drying effect; - do not use these medications if you are pregnant, attempting to become or breastfeeding; - tell your doctor if you use any other drugs.

If you search for some other options to treat acne, antibiotics may be of great help. The most common are Tetracycline (the most widely used; very effective), Erythromycin (it kills bacteria along with reducing redness of the skin; can be prescribed for pregnant women), Doxycycline (it is best for people, who do not tolerate the first two medications), and Clindamycin (very effective, but has serious side effects).

Renova has advantages over the antibiotics in fighting acne. The most important one is mild side effects, which pertain mainly to the skin, while antibiotics usually cause nausea, vomiting, and candida vaginal yeast infections in women. In addition, they decrease the effectiveness of the birth control pills.

Accutane pills are said to be very effective in treating acne. This drug belongs to the family of medicines called retinoids, which are similar to vitamin A, therefore, to Renova in some aspect. The pill is very powerful, but it affects DNA; therefore, some doctors avoid prescribing it.

Benzoyl peroxide is the main component of many over-the-counter acne medications. It works by killing bacteria. It is available in the form of 5% and 10% lotion or gel.

Hopefully, this information and drugs will help you become a princess or a prince and live happily ever after.
