Levitra Study Results and Future Innovations

The most up-to date results of several Levitra studies were reported by the producer of this medication - Bayer Shering Pharma AG, at the 22^nd Annual Meeting of the European Association of Urology (EAU), which took place in Berlin, Germany. The Company also presented its innovations in the field of men’s healthcare, focused on the three products: Levitra, Testogel and Nebido.

First of all, the representatives of Bayer AG reported positive results of the largest erectile dysfunction study in the world, called Real-Life Safety and Efficacy of Vardenafil (REALISE) study. This study with more than 30 000 researchers and 100 000 patients from 50 countries proved Levitra efficacy and safety when used in the real-world conditions.

Another study conducted by Bayer was to compare the efficacy and safety of Levitra to that of its closest rival Viagra, produced by Pfizer Inc. In total 1057 men participated in this study, of which 38.9 % preferred to use Levitra instead of Viagra as the medication to treat erectile dysfunction. Interesting to note that 26.6% of the participants could not define what type of medication is better. Thus, during this study Levitra not only proved its non-inferiority status, but even showed slight superiority in comparison to Viagra.

Finally, the scientists reported the results of the three multi-centers studies, which showed that Levitra provided significantly higher level of satisfaction not only to men, but also to their female partners.

To make the next step towards revealing the complete potential of Levitra in treating erectile dysfunction Buyer AG initiated new study. The Real-Life Perception of Efficacy, Attitude, Satisfaction and Safety of Levitra® Therapy (REPEAT) study will last for the next three years. It is designed to answer the question why about half of all couples, experiencing problems related to erectile dysfunction, make a decision to discontinue the treatment.

For the next three years the study will follow men treated with Levitra in over 20 countries around the world. The participants (both men and their sexual partners) will be screened to understand their behavior, attitude and perception of the process of treatment. During the EAU Congress the representative of Bayer AG also presented reports on two other medications - Testogel and Nebido, which are considered to be important for treating specifically men’s disorders. Both medications target testosterone deficiency in men. Scientists note that low testosterone level may cause decreased libido, loss of lean body mass and decreased bone density in men. Transdermal gel Testogel and intramuscular formulation Nebido are used to restore the normal levels of testosterone in male organism. Bayer AG reported data, showing that the use of Testogel and Nebido significantly improved psychological, somatic and sexual symptoms of testosterone deficiency.

Thus, presenting data from the conducted studies on Levitra and initiating new innovative research, Bayer AG Company proved its active position in the field of men’s healthcare.
