Cialis Becomes the #1 Pill

April 18, 2005 - Lilly ICOS LLC –

The market share of Cialis surpassed that of Viagra in France in January-February 2005. That is the main point of the official press release, published on April 18, 2005 by Lilly ICOS LLC.

As it is known, Cialis is the third approved oral medication to treat erectile dysfunction in men. Though it entered the market after Viagra and Levitra, its popularity grows significantly in all the countries, where it is available. Since the launch of Cialis in February 2003, more than 4.5 million patients in Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, the USA and European countries have been treated with this medication.

France has always been considered one of the most romantic places in the world, where love is in the air. At the same time French men have always been considered to be one of the best lovers in the world. Consequently, it is no wonder that the producers of Cialis paid so much attention to the success of their pill in this country.

As it is reported in the press release, Cialis covered 45% of French ED pills market in January, 2005. The share of Viagra from Pfizer, which is the closest rival for Cialis, was 44% at the same period. Cialis sales continued to grow and in February reached the mark of 49% of all the tablets, sold from wholesalers to pharmacies in France.

The importance of this fact was underlined by Leonard Blum, ICOS Vice President, who said: "The success of Cialis in France is an exciting milestone for the brand and for Lilly ICOS, especially because we joined the market after the leader was so well established".

The explanation of such success is obviously in the fact that Cialis demonstrates the longest period of acting among the analogue pills. Clinical studies proved that it can work as long as 36 hours, thus giving couples a freedom in planning their intimacy moment. Due to this feature, Cialis is widely-known as the "weekend pill".

It goes without saying that 36 hours of Cialis is much more attractive for the potential customers than 4 hours, offered by Viagra and Levitra.

In conclusion, it should be mentioned that Cialis is marketed by Lilly ICOS LLC, a joint venture between ICOS Corporation and Eli Lilly and Company. The company pays much attention to the advertising and marketing of Cialis, as it is the flagship in the company’s product line.
